Ultrasound
Ultrasound
is a simple, safe, and painless diagnostic procedure that bounces
high-frequency sound waves off parts of the body and captures the
returning "echo" as images. There is no injection required
or radiation exposure associated with ultrasound procedures.
Rose Radiology Centers,
Inc. employs only registered and certified ultrasonographers.
Ultrasound can capture
moving images of fetal development, the kidneys, pelvic and abdominal
function, breast abnormalities and other applications. One other
application is the use of ultrasound with an additional Doppler
technique that captures images of the blood circulating through
the heart and blood vessels.
Our Ultrasonographer
will apply a conducting gel to your skin and use a transducer to
pass the sound waves through your body. The ultrasound unit captures
these "echoes" to create an image that is instantly displayed
on a television like monitor. These images can then be printed to
film for a radiologists interpretation. Each exam typically takes
20 to 50 minutes.
